As the Coronavirus continues to wreak havoc around the world, HARMAN is frequently reviewing its approach to the pandemic, incorporating the latest guidance issued by the UK Government into our actions.
We stated last week that our principle concern remains the health and safety of our employees and this is still the case. We are also looking at how we can protect the business through this difficult time.
As the situation escalates, we have had to take the difficult decision to temporarily cease production at our Mobberley site from Wednesday 1st April 2020 until further notice.
While the UK government advice indicates that manufacturing businesses can still operate, with the country in lockdown we feel now is the time to act in order to protect our employees and our National Health Service (NHS) by minimising the spread of the virus.

Might need to get a few extra rolls in (although, given the current situation, it’s not like I’m managing to shoot that much...).

Well I guess it would be refreshing to have folk panic buying film instead of bog roll:rolleyes::exit::LOL:

Tbh retailers will likely have loads of stock ( providing togs don't all suddenly decide to fill their freezers at the same time!),

I have a moderate amount ( not loads) of film atm ….In the unlikely event that it runs out and obtaining more is impossible then so be it.
With the backlog of negatives that I can increase with additional exposures , there's enough PP to keep me busy for months on end even if obtaining paper/ inkjets becomes unable to obtain , the files will be there for a mammoth printing session at a later date.;)

I'd better check my fridge for stocks...

I hope they will be able to reopen, but with bills to pay and no income, could it be the end of the line?

I do hope they continue , For some of us it's a way of life ;):film:

I definitely don't need to buy extra at the moment with not shooting much. Been shooting around the house and documenting life whilst we are both at home (working from) but there's only so much I can shoot.
I saw the announcement yesterday from Ilford and hopefully they don't have too many outgoings that they can't survive.

If Ilford and Kodak both went for whatever reasons, that would probably be it for photography for me and that makes me really sad (although in context, there are lots of people dying currently so you know, perspective).

Well it's a moral issue bankrupt firms or the country for the few they could die linked to the virus....for me being elderly I'll take my chance by herd immunity....erm famous last words  :crying:

Read that a few times and still don't fully understand it. It's a strange time, though.

Well you can't stop colds and flu only slow it down and compared to Spanish flu and Bubonic plague this is mild.....so do we lift all restrictions off and let it die away naturally or do we continue to see firms going under, mass unemployment, suicides because of people in despair, maybe riots etc etc....in a feeble attempt to stop the spread, so this is the moral issue.

I refuse to respond to this ignorance as I don't want to derail another thread, particularly one in the F&C section which is pretty much the only one I come on here for nowadays.

Some interesting and possibly valid points in there Brian which are worthy of discussion for those interested though may I suggest not in here ;)

There is at least one OOF thread covering such topics ...,.i know cos i came first place in a typing contest and won a free holiday with my intellectual phrases [emoji23]

Quite right Asha about being off topic, but it's a bit dead here ATM and it is a subject that's important that affects us all...No more mention of coranavirus from me I promise o_O:exit:

They did say they ramped up production to increase warehouse stocks and will continue to ship dealer and personal orders. The shutdown is purely for the safety of workforce. Ilford have thought this through and will be fine

Listen I work in the Car making industry and that industry has stopped (I've been laid off) doesn't mean they won't start up again, in fact, there are still cars to be built, orders to fill.
Pretty sure Ilford isn't going anywhere, so long as they have laid off the staff under Furlough they will be back.
And they still have the warehouse up and running fulfilling orders,

It always seemed wasteful to me to be throwing away that 120 backing paper, not sure how absorbant it is though
It can't be any less absorbant than the "greaseproof" paper we had at school!:wideyed::LOL:
