Generally speaking, the choice for printing comes down to Inkjets and C-type Lambda/Lightjet. However those seeking B&W have a third option - Ilford's monochrome papers for use with Lambda/Lightjet machines. It's not widely offered and it's hard to find much in the way of comparisons of the results compared to c-type from people who have used it.
Ilford Lab offer the Resin-Coated version, while Whitewall and Metro Print both RC and Fibre-based. Whereas c-types tend to be cheaper than inkjet, these cost the most. For example, at Metro Print, A4 prices are:
C-type = £7.74
Inkjet /giclee = £10.20
Digital Silver RC = £12.60
Digital Silver FB = £25.80
Ilford Lab offer slightly cheaper ways to get prints on the RC (~£5 for A4), but if you want to to try the Fibre-based version, there's no getting around that it's expensive (DSCL will sell you 39 A4 prints for the same price!)
So does anyone here have experience of getting work printed on Digital Silver?
