As I know from my brief time here, youre all a helpful bunch, Basically I wanting to go and take some new piccies this week as does my friend. He has recently got a new Lumix TZ8 and I have my Canon 1000D + Kit lens.

Was wondering if anyone knew of any locations we should visit? You can see from my flickr and thread on here of what I like to shoot. Locations that are free preferably and just a good day out in general.

Just seeing if anybody had any good ideas for Cheshire/North Wales that you think I might like.

Cheers

Looks good. Think I might have a look up there too.

Up that way you also have Southport beach and further up there's Crosby and Formby. Latter has a red squirrel place.

There's also Tatton Park but that costs money to park. If you walk in then it is free. Got deer and parkland.

In North Wales there is Llangollen but it is a bit of a tourist trap. Ditto Betsw-y-Coed. Latter is prettier with more things to take pics of though. Conwy is nice but a long way round the coast. There's also Llandudno. That has some nice buildings and local scenery. Often very busy but a lot closer to Cheshire.

There's also Talacre beach with the lighthouse. That's Flintshire.

I live in Southport. Don't come up specially for the red squirrels. They have been attacked by squirrelpox virus, and you won't see any. They are there, but very few, and nowhere near the "official" site.

the Wirral in it's entirety will provide ample opportunities for all types of landscape phototaking...

Port Sunlight, Thornton Hough, Willaston for traditional village structures and scenes. West Kirby for seascapes and town. Bidston Hill for intriguing quirky corners, Thurstaston for rural landscapes and seascapes, Parkgate for its seafront, weird buildings and RSPB reserve in front.

New Brighton for it's fort and lighthouse in a rivetting seafront with views to Liverpool and the two cathedrals.

The Wirral Way adds a link between many allowing you to easily walk from one to another of several of these locations, if you are a cyclist there is a signposted circular route through the Wirral, enjoy Gods Green Acre.

That's saved a wasted journey for squirrels! Formby and Crosby beaches are both worth seeing though.

Cheers for the tips so far :)

anymore? I was looking at Beeston Castle soon. Looks decent

Beeston is good. (Sorry I'm from Warrington by the way)

Try Helsby hill too - some decent views and on your doorstep. Delemere perhaps ?

Yup Delemere has been on my list to go mountain biking actually :) could manage both

The Roaches don't think it's Cheshire but it's close!

Alderley Edge you don't have to pay parking if you park in the village and walk up the (steep) hill.

Was going to say Delamere (as i'd go that way to Chester) and also Chester itself is a nice place with the racecourse next to the river and the town itself has some cracking buildings, monuments etc.

Lymm Dam is worth a look too if you find yourself over that way.

I live in South Staffordshire but i work in Chester once a week and its a very nice place from what i've seen of it :) Sorry I didn't check your location when posting, just spotted your potters crest
