Yes
With all these meets going on in the northern sector, just wondered if anyone would be up for a southern based meet, and any suggestions as to where might be a good idea?

Depends what we want to do? Bath is loverly and means no travelling for me. Can be good for street type stuff if you pick a nice day, bit limited for other stuff too. My votes are for......

Beach
Beach
Coast
Somewhere near the sea
Beach
Seaside
A resort
A sandy place
Somewhere I can get an Icecream!

Now you're talking my language :D Would be great to do all of the above ;)

Milford on Sea, Barton on Sea...Hurst Castle..very photogenic...Lepe Beach, Calshot....

Highcliffe Castle is B E A OO TEE FUL!! Nice place for a meet too, you can have a coffee by the castle then walk down to the beach...fabberoony....dunno wot's come over me, I've gone all Tony Blackburn

Sounds like a nice place Marianne, and certainly a good contender

I agree - not a zoo.

Dare I mention Red Bull again?

Ok.

I wanted to go to Red Bull, but unfortunately, cost is just too much...Too far for me to drive.. :(

I can do a southern meet!
I'm liking the idea of this "expanse of water wot you can get icecream at" thing..

The Welsh coast is pretty ace - but is quite a trek for most people, especially as [IMO] it gets better the further W you go.

Beaches are interesting whatever the weather, too - a sunny day is just the start of things! Perhaps an idea to meet at a relatively commercial one, though - it's gonna be easier transport wise and there'll be somewhere to hide for all the ponces not in the rain :D

Hey - I don't like the rain.... it makes my hair go all curly :(

My hair is always curly. And frizzy. And a mess - so it really makes no difference to me!
Showercap?

anywhere near me would be great, in kent we have many things to see!

Sorry, too near the french for my liking.

There is always Lymington, planty going on there too, lots of Yachts and water and shops and pretty buildings.
Another place is Hurst Castle, you can either walk to the island from Keyhaven or I think they do a boat trip from Milford-on Sea.
You can also do a boat trip to Hurst Castle from Lymington...very photogenic place.
And then there's the wonderful New Forest, and a place called Bolderwood, part of the New Forest, a Deer sanctuary :)

Loads more ideas here too!

I think we might have to have a Southern Meet............and an Eastern Meet!
Somewhere in Suffolk/Norfolk would do me..... as pretty as a picture.

Dover castle, via the beach and white cliffs (and man selling ice cream)

I like the idea of something along the Dorset coast too...but where..??

The more I think about this the more I realise how trick it is to satisfy everyone...that’s why a Zoo is such a good idea...loads of photo opportunities and not too far to walk between subjects.

So, not wanting to go to a zoo again so soon after my last; I've been thinking about places with views and some sort of event, all in the same place.

I’ve found these two this morning...

Leeds Castle (M20 near Maidstone) http://www.leeds-castle.com/

Along with the castle with beautiful grounds, etc, they also have an re-enactment day on sat 23-sun 24th September....bit to soon that one.

Then theirs Battle (A21 near Hastings) where their holding a massive battle of hastings re-enactment. Good castle and pretty town also.

Sat 14 & Sun 15 Oct, 10am-5pm

To mark the Battle of Hastings’ 940th anniversary, 2,000 top re-enactors and performers from across the world will gather on the original battlefield to accurately replay the thrilling sights and sounds of the battle. Never before has English Heritage re-created the battle on this scale: William and Harold will face each other on the field of battle supported by one hundred mounted troops and fierce some foot soldiers as they clash swords for the crown of England.

Gates open at 10.00am each day allowing visitors to wander through a tented encampment and browse in a bustling traders' market. Magnificent birds of prey will demonstrate skills used in Norman times for both hunting and military purposes. Between performances, visitors will be able to see the birds close up as they rest in their tented mews.

During the build-up to the main battle at 3pm each afternoon, visitors can watch warriors as they train and prepare for battle . There will also be archery displays, have-a-go period activities for children, and 11th-century musical entertainment provided by musical duo Hautbois

I still like the idea of a beach and sea ...with a castle and an event...couldn't find anything this morning though...

City Centre anyone? Do some people photos?

We're off R1 (24hrs NTM) so we shouldn't deploy anywhere sudden for the next 6 months or so. Might even get some time to do my own stuff...

I'd be up for that too :) I'm that bored, I'm up for anything at the mo.... well, almost :p

Yep count me in for both Southern and Eastern meets

For the Eastern meet I put forward the idea of Orfordness off the Suffolk coast.

For the Sothern meet I put forward the idea of up in London town Buildings and people photography

Just my two pennies worth
