iCloud - how to setup email.

Despite googling this, struggling to find an answer.

Had mobile me, which has now changed to iCloud. Had 4 email adds as part of the family pack and these are all transferred to iCloud fine.

How though do I create a new email addy?

I wondered this myself just a few days ago.

It seems you have to set it up on your device, so iPad/iPhone

Once you have set it up you need to turn the device off and then on again for it to take and show up on iCloud

Log into your iCloud account, then go to Mail. In the settings (top right - its a cog logo) you can add an alias.

Mail will go to the same inbox, and you can choose which address to send from

Maybe I got it wrong but I took it that Simon wanted to set up a new email account as opposed to an alias

That's correct. I want to set up a brand new address.

I can tell you how to delete one from your apple account. Which may mean you can create one too.

Go to that link, sign in with current apple id. Have a look around. I might be wrong but it can't hurt to try.

Have your 4 mobileMe addy's been transferred into individual iCloud accounts?

I think you need to create an iCloud account to get a new email account.

No, can't see how i can?

I go into iCloud on iPad and it says my account is my appleID. There is nowhere to create a new email, only delete my account.

Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Accounts > Add account

That's the process I used to set up mine.

set up another apple id and try to use that to create a new e-mail.
