Hi, After being let down on the purchase of a Canon 6550 printer I found a new Epson R1900, now I no it's an older printer but from what I have read gives excellent colour results.
Anyway also seems to use small carts that do not last so long so looking for CISS that does not cost the earth (on a pension).
Have looked at the fotorite one as it is one of a very few that still offers dye ink, so many now pushing the Pigment ink.
Also Looking for a site or forum where ICC profiles may be found for free when useing other than Epson paper, again many offer the profiles for there own paper, example Kodak.
Any tips on the R1900 for getting the best results for an amateur for home use.
Many Thanks
Russ

Hi

Are you sure the R1900 is a dye ink printer, I thought it was one of their Pigment ink printers

1400/1500 was dye and 1800/1900 was pigment IIRC.

I use one of the cheap CIS sets from eBay (£25) on my 1500 and ink from another supplier that I have used without issue for years.

Although I profile my own test prints using the spider system I have found the ink I use to so close to epsons own inks that their own profiles give a very good result when using this TP ink with epson papers.

Give it a go, you might be surprised how good TP inks can be.

It's when using TP inks with TP paper that proper profiling starts to be nessesary.

Paul, sent you a PM couple days but maybe you didn't see it.
Just wondering what TP meant then worked it out:banana:and what Ebay supply you use? as after looking round seems that you are better to use Pigment ink if that is what the printer was made for.
Thanks
Russ
