Hi all, well as some of you im sure have noticed im having a website built, I have got a logo design im happy with BAR one thing............
I want to add a metal look texture.

but for the life of me i cant find the right texture in photoshop..
the texture im going for is the same on as the black background

can anyone guide me in the right direction??

I have created similar before but in silver only.
Try googling for "brushed steel" tutorials. It shouldn't take much from there to get the look you want hopefully.

Red metal does not look like grey metal though so maybe you are trying to get a look that does not work.

Usually, it is a simple highlight/shadow that creates an illusion of a different surface - a bit like drop shadows etc to 'raise' the text from the page.

Well a quick play got me to here:

Just made a black background
Added some noise; 9% Gaussian, monochromatic
Added motion blur; 90 degrees, distance 65 pixels
Played with curves a little to bring it out more.

Screen shot looks poor so full size:

Needs more work obviously and playing around with the values above and adding lighting effects/dodge/burn will get it closer to the example.
