Hi - I bought a 24" speedlight softbox from ebay. First thing to note is that I popped it open and it punched me in the face :) Blood all around the place /sigh

Now - how do i set this thing up? I've bolted the flash mount and big circular thing together but not sure how to attach the big round thing to the softbox itself. Anyone know of any instructions?

Thanks,
Dub

Have you asked the seller?

The 'hole' in the softbox, is surrounding by the framing of the softbox on all 4 sides. The ring should just squeeze inside the frames and hold your box :) If that makes any sense :D

This is what you're aiming for.....

just followed ezybox instructions on youtube.

[waits for the 'Just got punched in the face trying to collapse my speedlight softbox' thread]

:D

I love setting these things up, the WHOOOMP they make is such a lovely sound.

The ****** ******* ******* noises I make when trying to fold them back up into a tiny circle that defies the laws of physics, is an even better sound :D

couldn't have put it any better myself phil

Haha I am way too scared of the thing to try and fold it up for now :)

Thanks for the advice on set up.

cheers,

p.s. took my first test shot and I love it! All my indoor flash photography has always had a very warm cast to it due to my walls being cream (i bounce off them). For the first time I have nice smooth directional light without that warm tint!

Can I suggest a manual white balance? Its cheaper than a softbox:D

Yah having nice WB right out of the gate was just an unexpected side effect - it's not the reason for my buying the soft box :)

Sorry I have no advice to give you, I just have to say you get my vote for thread topic of 2010. It's like a Jeremy Kyle opener
