I want some puffins! Cornwall

I know there are places on the north Cornwall coast where puffins can be photographed, at least on occasion, but I can't find any info on exactly where if you can't afford a boat trip. It seems a somewhat guarded secret.

Just wondering if anyone here knows any probable spots I may see them? Can pretty much travel anywhere in Cornwall.

I can only suggest you also keep an eye on/contact your more local birding 'sites' such as http://www.cornwall-birding.co.uk/category/recent-sightings/

And here http://www.cornishlight.co.uk/bird-watching.htm where they seem to be suggesting that mainland sightings et al are very scarce

Sadly it is boat trip or nothing

There's a puffin island just off Padstow.

Local boats do short trips out to it but you don't get all that close because of rocks just below the surface.

Only just noticed I never replied, could've sworn I did! Thanks both of you, will keep an eye on the sites but may have to see if I can do a trip next year maybe, I need to see some puffins!

Fingers crossed I get to, where there's a will, there's a way, apparently!
