I am looking to connect my D5000 to my SB600 remotely on a flash bracket and retain the i-TT info.

From my research it would seem I need something like the SC28 or 29. Maybe I may get away with an SC17.

I don't plan on doing a lot of flash work so the new price of a Nikon item at about £45 is more than I want to pay.

I see some non Nikon chords going for about £10 or £12 on ebay and wonder if these would be OK?

Has anyone any experience of using one of these chords and are there any potential problems with them.

Any better way for off camera flash on the above combination?

I use one now and then - have cheap yongnuo one that was about £20 off fleabay. No major issues with it, apart from the coils being a little tight. Does what it should do.

Why not try using CLS to fire the sb600 via your cameras POP up flash?

Thanks for that. I wasn't aware that I could use CLS to do that, I am a real novice when it comes to flash work.

I will have to do a bit of digging.

Thanks again.

No probs - pretty sure it'll be just a case of going into the SB600's menu and setting it to slave mode and then going into the menu of your camera and in the flash section, setting the pop-up flash as commander (think it's a '--' symbol) so it triggers the flash but doesn't really contribute to the overall exposure. :)

Just as an update to this it appears that the D5000 doesn't have a commander mode option to fire the SB600.

Looks like I'm destined for the SC28 or 29. Oh well. :'(

The eBay dx28 cables work fine. Plenty of places sell 10m long ones if you want to get further off camera too.
