A few years ago I was mug like a lot of people who come on here. :bang:

Buy nice camera and lens. Take photos of son and team mates and give photos away for free.

Few years later realise you're a mug and want to charge.

Result - can't make a sale, even when the photos are really good.

This weekend my sone was playing for Kent U17s vs Belgium U18s.

Apart from me being at the wrong end of all the action the photos were pretty crap.

Result = £51 order.

That was from one of the dad's, of one of the players who doesn't play in my son's club team.

Okay I wont retire on the order but....

Oops sorry for the lousy thread title.

It was meant to say:-

I TAKE good photos & sell nothing, I take crap and sell !!

Thats why I hate people looking at my website to see if I am any good.. My pics on my website are for sale.. they arn't there because they are the best.. they are there to show what happened and hopefully make sales

As it happens i get a good steady flow of sales ... some from recent shoots and some from years ago... it all adds up to a nice little extra..

If I had to choose my best pics to go on site.. it would be empty as I can find fault wiht them all.. hence no portfolio

Robin, I WAS that mug too, although my pics are still mostly crap :lol: and never sold much.

I did exactly the same thing with my basketball pics. Put them up, watched and basked in the glory as people "stole" my pics, (I gave them away)

After coming on here, and meeting a couple of nice guys, I stopped. I have not posted much lately, I have rebranded myself and I'm now trying to go 'straight'. It's not my living like some on here, but being here has made me realise the worth of what I can do, and what damage I was doing to others. I have now secured a deal with a national body to supply my pics, and also got something in the pipeline for event stuff. It's not going to help me give up my day job, it's a step in the right direction though. Don't be downbeat pal, everyone feels the pinch, and we both started out free afterall :shrug:

Keep pushing forward, the wall will breakdown eventually :thumbs:

Phil
