One of my 9year old sons decided to fix my printer for me (it wasn't broken) he also decided that he would like to see the ink in the cartriges so took them out to, I assume inspect the ink! Anyway the outcome is that I need a new printer (he couldn't fix it after all!). I want a good picture quality one with replacement inks as cheap as possible anyone got any ideas? Budget about £100-£150. Thanks for any suggestions. (for a new printer not what to do with a son)

What did you have?

Printer manufacturers have their devotees just like camera makers, most makes you can buy today will do a great job of photo printing.

Personally I'd choose Epson, you can buy an R360 for less than £80

The best thing in my opinion for that sort of Money would be a Canon MP600, it is a fantastic all in one printer, can print CD/DVD as well. Ink lasts forever and print quality is fantastic. It also has two paper trays so you can have A4 plain stored permanently underneath and use the rear straight thru feeder for your photo paper etc.

order online to collect at store to get it at the online price.

Trust me you will not be disappointed.

Not the obvious choice but check out the new Kodak 5300 all in one in PC World at £139.99

I used to work for Kodak as techy guy/training manager until redundancy October last and I have to admit I would have looked at Canon first. However since being employed casually on the Kodak trailer currently doing the rouinds of big shows and events (New Forest next week then Sunderland air show) I have had opportunity to ncheck this out.

It is awsome. Print quality is just fantastic and the inks oly cost £16 for a complete set. This unusually includes a clear laquer which makes the prints waterproof and with a 100+ year life.

It is very solidly made too.

This is not an advert. I am employed now only casually these days and am impartiaal as to kit, but I am personally very impressed with it. I know that millions have been spent on the printer head research spanning the last 4 years.

Were you at Goodwood mjwman?? - went into the Kodak trailer there and spoke to a guy about the new printers and their attempt to put a bit more sensibility into the prices of Printer inks.

Print quality was very impressive, although the only downside (or 2) i could see was that the inks weren't independant, i.e. one for each color, they used two cartridges. One for Color, one for Black, and that they were only 4 color IIRC, rather than 6 or more that Epson and others use (so no light magenta/cyan which tend to help with skin tones etc).

Also entered their competition for a new 10" digital picture Frame, this looked excellent also.

There is also the cheaper Epson 1400, for which CIS units are available at good prices.

Yes I was at Goodwood on the Sunday as Saturday I was doing a wedding.
As for the colour cartridge does it really matter its all in one at that price? (£9.99).
Kodak has shown you do not need to pay for watered down ink to get good skin tones!:|
