Anyone have one I can use? Or know a place to get one?

Ive never mastered converting to B+W, and hope someone can help me get on the right path, thank you please :)

Hi Betty try IMAGE-MODE - THEN GRAYSCALE,hope this helps you can also desaturate in Image -adjustments desaturate, Image is the 3rd along File,Edit Image, regards Cyril

try calculations, Blending mode multiply or overlay. Then select new document, rather than the other options at the bottom.
You can get some extreme contrast with out banding. The only other method I've seen better than that is sliver fx pro (not quite sure the title is correct). Other than long drawn out dodging and burning methods to get good contrast.

i can vouch for nik silver efex pro top B+W software:thumbs:

This might sound obvious but have you tried the black and white options palette? CS3 has that under image/ajustment/black and white. Theres a drop down preset list (where it says none) the green often gives a good result. I tend to ajust levels or curves after to get a bit more punch, easily saved as an action.

I must admit I do not use a single action as I find that I use separate conversions on different parts of the image – I really like Cybia BW-Plus - www.cybia.co.uk/bwplus.htm - this is free and well worth a look…

This is a pic I did to demonstrate some of the different effects – basically a bright red car – so top left is B&W Plus with Red filter (it had to be), top right is blue (so I lost the sky), bottom left is green and bottom right is yellow (my favourite)… Have fun!

Fiddling with the 'tone curve' helps a huge amount in Lightroom and would i guess be the same in CS3.

I just downloaded the 2nd link straight into CS3 and had a look. Pretty good from what i can see. I love the 50`s and 60`s pre sets.

Well that's ****, it's PC only!

That's a shame. I'd keep an eye on this if i were you. Looks like it could be a very interesting addition.
