Right I'm off work from Friday until beginning of February.

I'm looking for some kind of wildlife challenge. It has to something I can photograph within 40 miles on Inverness and nothing nocturnal as I have not got the kit for this.

Anyone with ideas??

Well, I wouldn't say find the rarest wildlife you can...because that may become tedious and depressing when it isn't about! So I'd choose something that you can pretty much guarantee seeing....and get that shot :) What kind of bird life do you have locally?

Theres plenty of birds around, Red Kites(i've plenty of photos of these birds), buzzards, ducks and your usual little brown jobies.

I'll mention it now, please no mentions of wildcats, as they are almost impossible to see.

How about a haggis, i believe you'll get them round about dawn at this time of year:lol:

Wide angle shot of a buzzard....that should be a challenge :) It'd have to be remotely fired...or a very convincing hide...and some road kill or something!

Now that would be a tough one. I don't have the remote equipment or a hide though. :( Although CT's thread about hides did make me think and I almost got my wallet out. Almost mind you

I'd not even though about using a wide angle lens.

I see you have a 100-400.

You're only 10 miles from Chanonry Point. Get some dolphin photos!

There's loads of RAF activity in that area too, if that's your thing.

Thanks for the ideas blapto, but its the wrong time of year for dolphins, they're only summer visitors.

RAF, don't really cut it for me :(

I'm thinking (yep it hurts) waterfool or waders, as I'm living very close to the Murray, Beauly and Cromarty Firth's. There a number of reserves and plenty of adhoc opportunities if I can get there with the right tide and light levels.

I'm trying to compile a list of birds that I might be able to get photos of.

I'm hoping this is going to teach me some patience. As with these birds they have to come to me, instead of my usual trick of just turning up at the feeders.

Again CT thanks for starting the thread on hides as I feel an order coming along.

Does anyone have any tips for me :)

Hide turned up yesterday and given a try this morning. Works great although, I found the restricted vision a little frustrating. I suspect I'll get the hang of it eventually.
