I Like Canon's, I dont know Why

Ok i am really looking to start taking photography serious as a hobby because i enjoy it and i love capturing the moment.

I also would like to take pictures for my college work and of models for my clothing line.

With my birthday coming up i really wanted to treat my self to a nice DSLR but i don't know what type to get.

I really had my heart set on the Canon EOS 500D / Digital Rebel T1i

Is the above a good choice?

any recommendations or suggestions ?

Marcus the best thing to do is have a look around the forums. Talk Equipment especially. Utilise the search feature and all your questions will be answered Have fun.

Jo is correct.
Like her I am a Canon user but I am not going to tell you what to buy.
Go to a shop, hold the cameras and see what feels the best.
Don't get lost and confused about the specifications because any of the cameras within your budget wil do a good job.
The 500D is an upgrade from the 450D, but is it worth the price difference?
