Yes
As above really. As I understand it you can do all the editing on a RAW rather than using ACR and then going into PSE9, which is fine unless you want to re-adjust a something you've done in RAW eg clarity. Also it's been mentioned on one of my posts here LR5 is better for editing produce a lot less halos. I as of yet have tried the trial, but is it worth it? I have a little trouble with PP and I wonder if LR5 will help. The biggest problem though is the normal problem for these things, its around £100, so would it be worth waiting for LR6?

Many thanks, Mike

Only you can say if it's worth changing to Lightroom. Do you think the quality difference is worth the price tag. If not then stay with PSE. Altough you are using an older version of ACR than LR5. Try downloading a trail of PSE13, which I think is the latest version. It may give you the results you need and costs less than LR5. One point to mention is that I find the GUI in LR5 much better than the ACR version in Photoshop you may find this a reason to change.

As to when LR6 is due , any ones guess I suppose

I used to use PS to edit all my raws and then I found Lightroom.

Lightroom isn't just a raw manipulation tool, it's your entire library managed, virtual copies, keywording, grading, exporting, uploading to Flickr or Facebook or a website. It's making your raw adjustments to one photo and in a couple of clicks adding the same ones to 100 photos.

Another option for you is the Adobe CC photography bundle. £8.78 a month gets you PS and LR, always the most recent version. I have it and I'm very pleased.

Remember though, LR isn't a pixel editor. So you'll still want PS or Elements from time to time.

Personally I couldn't not use Lightroom now.

Thanks guys. I think I will download the trial. From what I've seen of the vid adobe have done about LR it looks really good. Keywords, tagging, and rating you can do in elements 9, but I only use ratings when I'm deciding what to keep or bin. I use folders to sort my files.

I've had PSE for years - am now on 11 and I've enjoyed using it. This year, I got LR - I find it brings more to processing and it's easy too. That sad, I'm fairly useless so need to learn more.

would I have LR instead of PSE ....no. As Darren says above, there will be times when you'll be wanting to use Elements

As above both are required.

PSE for layers (more in depth processing) and light room for quick edits.

This is why I took up cc so I could improve my images beyond LR. I'm in process of teaching myself PS
