Some of you may have known that I was riding 100 miles for the British Heart Foundation, which happens to be 50 miles further than I've riden before.

Anyway as the title says me and my trusty mountain bike I made it round:).

we had a mandatory 30min stop at 50 miles and a couple of quick stops to take on some food at 30 and 70 and all in I did it in approximately 8 hours. The cycle computer says 100.94 miles in 6hours 55min:eek:. Much better than I expected.

There will be some photos later when I have the energy to sort them out.

Thanks for the words of support to my previous thread and remember it's never to late to sponsor me, (the online page is very sparse;)).

Well done mate.

You should be really chuffed

I would have come and done it

Anyone who can sit on a bike saddle for 100 miles deserves a medal in my book. Last time I rode a bike I was delivering the Sunday Times.

Well done.

Congrats, I did the London to Brighton when I was about fourteen and that was way cool. 100 miles I think would kill me now

lol that was possibily the worst part... I'm not going to be getting on a bike for at least week.... got a 5mile family fun ride on Sunday:lol:

thanks for all for the comments and support folks

well done Mark

I was out with a group today for a truly excellent ride in the peak district

burnt to a crips and bitten to pieces and I loved it :D

One of our number though is spending a night in Sheffield general after a pretty decent off tore his leg open just below the knee a mile from the end of the ride :gag:

1 Ambulance
1 Air Ambulance
1 Mountain Rescue Landrover
1 TV crew

:D

The photos of the wound are better than the ones I took of the scenery :D

I was out at the tour of pembroke today - got some sunburn just taking photos for the event - a warm day to ride a 100 - well done mate

Congratulations and well done! You must be feeling really proud of yourself with that achievement

The furthest I have ever cycled is 30 miles. That was the first time I'd been on a bike for about 14 years. I could barely sit down for a week after

ooh ouch.. hope he makes a good recovery. I know someone who was riding up there today, sounds like it was a good day.

The worst that happened to me was on the ride back to the car, stopped for some lights and forgot to unclip... I hate that feeling of realising you're about to go down:).

Thanks DF:thumbs:, next year = road bike

It wasn't to warm here until we'd completed the first 50 miles (about 11:30) until then it was misty and cold.

Congratulations and well done! You must be feeling really proud of yourself with that achievement

Good effort for the first time back on a bike minimeeze. I am quite chuffed with myself at the moment.

 no mention of a camera for shooting those woodpeckers with.

Thanks again for the sponsorship:thumbs:

What sort of bike did you use mark?

Tony

Well done do you walk like john wayne now  :D

Thanks again folks.

Techno, I used a Specialized Hardrock Sport Mountain Bike.

DeadlySmurf, there was a bit of the John Wayne's yesterday afternoon, but I feel pretty good this morning. I have a full day of job interviews to get through today, 8 candidates to see in one day, I fear I may not be able to move at the end of that process!

whats the Job for ?? Ill have it :D
i need a new job ASAP :(

A few shots from the day as captured by my wife (Louise) and children. It was great to see them at halfway and again at the end, made a big difference.

Setting Out

How mad am I.... it's six in the morning (Sunday morning) and, rather than just set off for my lift to Norwich for the start, I'm setting up the tripod and posing (ahem) for a quick shot. Sorry about the pose I guessed where I needed to be and just took one shot.

Halfway round

Caught out by my kids.... I didn't feel that tired.

Finished

Yes I know thats a really inane grin. Truth is I was so chuffed to have finished and even more chuffed to see my family waiting for me at the end, that any thoughts of looking cool and calm never occured to me. :-)

Gang of Four

Left to Right... Me, Steve, David, Clive.

A long day in the saddle but in a perverse way i enjoyed it... would I do it again? Maybe :-)

Tired, oh yes!

Damn they got me again, and this time I did feel that tired.

congrats, would love to try it but i'd be knackered after 4 miles :D
