Hmmmm....

I change lenses it seems, almost as often as I change my undercrackers.

I had an 18-55 which I bought and sold for a profit. Then a Tamron 20-40 which I sold for a profit. Now I have a Sigma 17-70 which I need to shift sharpish as I've just bought a 17-40L :| :'(

It's a lot cheaper than 'over here' prices, as it's coming from the US. The only problem maybe customs fees, which I may or may not avoid - what are the chances (fingers crossed I do!)?

I still need to flog on some bits I have lying around, but I'm not sure whether they'll cover the shortfall. Perhaps I could become a 'man of the night' to raise the readies :naughty:

You won't be selling the 17-40L :)

/shuffles nervously ;)

Congrats on the new lens :)

My new 17-40 arrived on Wednesday. I've not really had the chance to give it a proper workout, but damn it's sharp compared to what I'm used to.

At first I thought it was totally borked because the AF is so quiet, I didn't think it was working!

Anyway, I didn't get charged import duty or VAT, which saved me about £80. So all in, my fully boxed with all bits 17-40 cost £300 from the US:woot:

danza - not wishing to rain on your parade but just to warn you that depending on who your lens was delivered by you sometimes get a bill for vat / duty etc up to six weeks after delivery  - this happened to me with DHL & annoyed the hell out of me as I thought I'd bagged a billy bargain :annoyed:
Paul ;)

Nah, it came via Parcelforce, and if there's a charge, they hold the item until you give payment AFAIK.
