I am left wondering what the countryside is for ?. Natural England.

Depending on the status of those trails and green lanes, it's possible that trail bikes (motor) and other powered vehicles are allowed to use them already.

They CAN but don't always, any more than walkers and MTBs CAN. When driven/ridden irresponsibly they can cause significant damage but so can an MTB if it's skidded down a grassy slope with the rear wheel locked up.
Wasn't there an attempt to ban greenlaning a about 20 years ago I have vague recollections about it being headline news in MCN?

The thing is this type of banning activity is the default position for many - if they don't like it or don't understand it people simply want it banned or heavily restricted. From cycling, to photography in public places, drones, boxing, fishing, shooting...

I have vague recollections of an attempt but other than a half hearted crackdown on the use of bridleways (as opposed to BOATs) by a few trail bike riders, nothing came of it.

Yes, as I stated earlier it appears you are guilty until you prove you are not.

I never knew that motor torpedo boats had rear wheels. Nor did I realise that people carried them up grassy slopes...
Damn, I’ve resisted saying that every time he’s used it. I needn’t have bothered

Not sure many torpedo boats will be entered in the MTB World Championships...

Perhaps they should.

A blast from one of the .50 calibre guns would probably dissuade their opponents... :naughty:

It’s interesting (to me) how varios modes of transport cause different damage. I have a grass verge at the front which was regularly ised by a string of racehorses which never caused any damage. Then the old railway was taken over by the cyclists and horse banned so part of their route disappeared and I never saw them again :(.

Meanwhile cycling has become more popular and some choose my verge rather than the road and, I presume from the rolling effect, they cause considerable ‘damage’ and muddiness. Drone vs gliders sort of :)

Most companies I have worked for have a person tucked away in a office who dreams
up this sort of thing , I refer to him or her as Mr or Mrs Justify , The need to do this to justify keeping their job.
I knew someone who had numerous dealings with various departments of the Civil Service, albeit some years ago now, and I was told that they employ large numbers of such people.

I've worked (as a contractor) in various civil service departments, dealing with people from Administrative Assistants to Senior Principle Officers and never met these alleged jobsworths. The people I worked with were bright and committed to doing their jobs well.

What I think happens is that Ministers and their political "helpers" get law officers to gold plate simple ideas, to the point where the written material becomes (to use an ancient French word, taken up by the US) garbage. We shouldn't blame the Civil Service for the insanity of the politicians elected to lead them.

i hope you get your glider rights restored.
however i do fully support the bans on powered nuisance including drones etc
