I am killing time mam..........

On a bus today back from work in Central London heard the driver chatting on the bus's comm system "I am doing my best killing time mam" and was driving very slowly as if waiting to catch every red light.

Just curious to know why would he do that knowing that every passenger on that bus wants to get home asap?

Maybe he was ahead of schedule and was trying to get back in line again, usually when a bus is ahead of schedule it has to sit at a stop for 5 or 10 minutes, which can be even more annoying. I know this because I'm a window cleaner and I clean bus windows when they are stopped at traffic lights.

I once heard a tube announcer say, in the most beautifully shocked tone of voice, "Ladies and Gentleman, we will be remaining on the platform for a while, as apparently we're 3 minutes early?!"
