I was in my local park yesterday morning, and this was for my dogs normal morning walk. I do get followed by wardends from time to time, but this time a marked warden car followed me, he even pointed is in car camera towards me, and recorded me and my dog. I always clean up after my dog, so I am not worried that way.

I was thinking I might get my own micro video cam, just to record any events that went on that day. The park has been featured on TVs Filthy Rotten Scoundrels, so I know they do keep video footage.

Just thinking it would be good to keep proof of me picking my dogs poops up, I know not a nice video, but :lol: Just purely as evidence!

I have a 10 stone Dogue de Bordeaux, about a year ago she squatted for a pee, 10 seconds latter some busy bodie old bat came racing up behind me accusing me of not picking up, so I tried to explain it was only a pee, just to be safe we scoured the area for the missing DooDah, it wasn't till i explained that if she had poo'd we would not need to search for it as its highly possible you could trip over it that she conceded and went on her way :shrug:

Yes that is what does concern me, my dog is a bitch ( but a nice one ;) ) and as we know they need to squat to wee. So when she does this, I always stand there with a poo bag. Hopefuly anyone observing will assume it is not a poo, as I would have used the bag to clear up !
 
A local field and wood is very popular with owners walking their dogs and apparently the local council sometimes send "observers" to make sure the poo protocols are being followed. Unfortunately, the other day I noticed a path on the blind side of the field has become a popular spot for the crafty disposal of the magical packages. One fence post had quite a pile of them at its base, each one gift-wrapped. It reminded me of Christmas. :)

That really does make me mad, the lazy and inconsiderate dog owners. I always walk with my doggie poop neatly tied in a bag. I will wait until I get to a proper disposal bin, where I will leave it.

I have even taken my doggie poop home, that is if I have not found a suitable bin, I will dispose of it at home.

As long as I know I am doing my bit ;)
 
Oh you're lucky, round here they just throw them in the hedges, why bother to bag it and then do that.
Being a rural area it's just as easy to flick it unwrapped off the path so it breaks down and fertilizes the wild plants

Just come back from a week's snowboarding in France and I had my memory jogged as to how bad the French (and other europeans) are.

Our hotel overlooked the main street and there was the expected snow everywhere. Having my brekkie I saw a woman with a small dog who let it have a dump on the pavement right outside a bar. She then just kicked some snow over it to hide it and moved on. Kids were playing in the snow the previous evening so i hate to think of what could have happened.


Also, we sat down on a slope-side eatery at the base of the slopes. We didn't like the service so got up; the misses stepped in a massive pile of poo that was no more than five feet away from the nearest table. She should have seen it (b down on white) but you don't expect dog pooh to be near where people eat, or at least not for any period of time. It was still there the next day.

I had been eyeing up a jump on the beginners slopes for a few days so on my last day, went for it. Got some good air but the landing zone had a massive poo on it, so I had to bail out and miss it, landing hard on my shoulder. It was like a human poo, so can only imagine it was something like a bear that had come down out of the wood for a poop!! :)

Although letting your dog crap without clearing up is wrong on every level, there's 'wrong' and there's 'wrong, wrong' :)
 
My dog's like a Play-doh machine at the best of times but at this time of year at least they act as mini handwarmers until you get to the poo bin.

What I can't understand are the people that bag it and then launch it into the bushes where they hang festooned like bizarre Christmas tree decorations :(

And wasn't there a campaign recently (Scotland?) which said bag it or flick it? i.e. flicking it in a hedge was better than leaving it where someone could mash it with their size 10s ?
 
wish the wardens would patrol round here! i live right by playing fields which are used every weekend by the kids footie teams, as well as some adults. The amount of dog poop scattered around the fields is ridiculous and downright disgusting. The teams coach usually has to scout the field before he lets the kids play because theres so much of it!

We've got a King Charles , she always manages to squeeze one out no matter how short the walk but I always pick it up, I've come across owners before that just leave it, a sarcastic ill pick that up for you shall I usually makes them feel really small

The fines should be a lot higher, park 10 mins over the time limit and you'll get a fine but all it does is inconvenience someone looking for a space

If the dog poo ends up in a child's mouth it could blind them
 
Exactly why I adopt the "robust" approach and advise any non-picker-upperers that they'll see it again if they don't pick it up. "Why's that? You going to put it in my garden?"

Nope - through your letterbox - and yes I've been on someone's doorstep to do that when they caved and went a picking.

Unfortunately,around here (seaside) the bins we use are slowly disappearing and not being replaced.
Which leads to some people whom do bag it,then ditching it where the bin used to be.
Plus the sh#ts who do not intend to bag it using that as an excuse (theres no bins,so why bother)
It's a silly policy by the council as the cr@p has to cleared up eventually.
A new bin is an investment for the future,as they would put it .:rules:

I would seriously consider filming him going about his daily business, but I suspect I couldn't be arsed.

with 5 i always clean up if in areas where i know other people may stand in it, and have been known to clear up other peoples if its near mine, cos you can bet i'd get the blame for it, however i am in the camp that when they are in the middle of the undergrowth (and yes i've taught them this) a million miles away from any path i leave it, on the basis of why put something totally biodegradable in a plastic bag, when its in a position that poses no risk to anyone
 
complaint going into the council asking them to do something about this. The walk to take my son to school in the morning is only 5 minutes and i had to dodge 3 on my way there this morning, 2 of which had already been stood/walked in by someone else.

So I come along with my dog, who is off-lead (like yours) and he treads in it and brings into my hall... thanks.

Round here you'd be done at £40 a go for that per deposit, if you were unequipped to pick it up another £40 per deposit and if in the opinion of the warden you weren't in full control of your dog (either by voice or lead) another £40 per dog for that. No excuse for not picking up, the council will give you free poo bags on request here.

Personally I don't think they should muck around with £40 fines - should be £500 a go and enforced robustly.

The trouble is that that a 'few' end up destroying it for everyone. In a local park here the council was out last week, with a view to gauging opinion on a requirement to keep ALL dogs on leads while in the park. REASON: fouling and the occassional slightly full on k9. There was ample objection from dog walkers/owners so the decision has been put on hold for the moment. However, there is actually very little unattended fouling but i do wish there was none at all. There is no excuse for it at all. Sometimes an owner can get taken short, but any other decent dog-walker can usually assist with a poo-bag....
 
I can understand the annoyance with dog pooh. But what about horse pooh ! Quite often i'll see piles of that big enough to cause damage to a wheel bearing- how come they get away with it and can't they just tie a bucket to its tail ?
 
When I go to the park with my dog, I take a pocket full of doggie treats in one pocket, while in the other pocket I have plenty of poop bags. I follow her about at all times, and I make sure I clear up after her. I often see dog walkers letting their dog poop, and then trying to walk off without clearing up. I simply shout your dog has left a little message, and I hand them one of my bags.

I did have some fun the other day, the wardens van was following me again, and I kept doubling back and going a different way :)

It's brill being a dog owner, searching for that poop in the long grass, with the rain pouring down your neck. But she is a lovely dog, I would not be without her..;)

Hahaha... know what you mean! And I have 2 dogs - so twice the searching! To be honest I end up pulling out fistfuls of grass n all :-) . Before we had dogs, I thought that people who DID have them were nuts - walking around with poo-bags etc.... That'll teach me to be so judge mental eh? :-)

Who said my dog wasn't under control, you're making a massive presumption, you're also presuming that i'm walking in somewhere, where there are lots of walkers which i don't dogs or otherwise, if you read the rest of the post, i always pick up where i know it MAY be a problem.

There are certain areas of the country where they have started to encourage people to flick rather tham bag, to reduce the amount of plastic going to land fill

Any other dog is unlikely to go tread on it! They do have a fairly decent sense of smell after all and although they may well have a good sniff round it (some may even make a snack out of it - sorry for those eating their coco pops) they're smart enough not to put their paws in it.

As for believing anyone thinking they are so mighty that they have the right to put dog doo through someone's letter box - I think you'd get more than a £40 fine for that one!

I hate that! My dog will purposely avoid the short piece of grass where it's nice and easy to pick up his crap, instead he'll select the longest clump possible, normally with a few twigs in it to ensure the bag is then punctured and whatever I have managed to scrap into the bag then falls back out.

This isn't actually the embarrassing part though; when he's looking for a good spot he'll do this stupid hunched up walk and whilst in this position he'll somehow point his ass in the direction of where he's interested in and walk kinda sideways/backwards. Then when he finds the spot (long and twiggy - see earlier) he'll then circle about ten times, start crapping and then midway through he'll start turning so he can have a look whilst spreading the remaining outcoming in a wide arc.

And because the little ****** has spun so much the lead will usually be tangled up so the precision manoeuvre of picking up the scattered steaming pile of crap and flipping the bag back from being inside out goes tits up as it catches the lead and it ends up somewhere else - usually my hand.

But other than that he's very cute.
 
Hey the worse one is when you've bent down to pick it up and your whistle dangles in it, best thing i ever did was change my lot over to being raw fed, far less off it, and what there is, is like little bullets
 
We have a local nature park that quickly became a dog toilet. About half of the owners will bag it and drop it in the bins provided, a quarter will just leave it and the rest bag it and hang it on fences, bushes or throw it in the grass.

One of my many pet hates is people bagging it and then leaving it. I used to work in the countryside, maintaining footpaths and each summer we'd strim the vegetation along the edges. There is nothing worse that strimming through a bag that's been sat there for a month...truly disgusting. In the countryside at least, it's far better just to flick it off the path with a stick, it goes in no time.
 
I really struggle to understand people who go to the effort of bagging it then leaving it or sticking it ins hedge or whatever. Surely that's even worse than just leaving it (which for the avoidance of doubt and notwithstanding points already raised re "off path business" is completely unacceptable too)
 
It's quite common in Mugdock Park for people to bag it then leave it hanging on a branch and I'm guessing it's because there are hardly any bins, a few at the entrance and I think there's one at the castle, and they don't want to carry the poo bag all the way around the park but also don't want someone to stand in it so hanging it is the middle ground perhaps?
 
Surely it's not tricky to keep hold of it until they either do find a bin or just take it home. It's not pleasant (although at this tube of year it can be a nice hand warner) but I'm guessing before these people bought dogs they knew they'd have to poop!
