Yes
Every now and again, our LG television loses sound and the above message is displayed. Anyone know what this means (other than the speaker connection has failed)? If I turn it off then on again, the sound returns and it happens probably about once every few weeks.

The TV is about 15 years old, does this mean I'm looking at forking out for a new one in the near future?

In my world HT in this context is "Home Theatre" - is it an external sound bar?

15 years old!
I think after 15 years of use it has served you very well.
Now stop being a tight old git and go and buy a new one :)

Just had a new bathroom, windows, patio doors, blinds. New downstairs flooring in a couple of weeks.

Not so much tight as skint!

But yes, it has served us very well. t's a very minor inconvenience at the moment. I've tried googling it but everything I've found refers to soundbars or home theatre systems, neither of which we have.

This may have something to do with Simplink, if your T.V. is using that: SIMPLINK (lgappstv.com)

It seems that Simplink gets confused if it's active but there are no other devices attached. Check your remote for a Simplink button.

As hunnymonster said, HT normally means Home Theatre.
Could be worth having a look at the sound settings and if possible, do a factory reset.

Well it took me a while to find the remote as I haven't seen it in years!

Can't see a Simplink button button I went into the audio menu and did a reset. Who knows what that did though.

From time to time, our free sat box decides to turn on but not do anything so I have to unplug it for 10 seconds (not sure why I do it for 10s, I just do!) and try again. That seems to sort it for a month or 2. I just put it down to it being a s*dding computer! Annoying that the "switch it off and back on again" procedure seems to work so often!!!

Which Freesat box do you have?
I have the Humax HDR-1100s and from time to time it has done the same as yours

Not sure TBH and having managed to screw my back a couple of days ago, I can't get down and at it to check! If it happens before my back's better, I'll just have to settle for the free view on the TV itself - only got the humax for the few extra HD options, the few extra channels are a bonus (couldn't even tell you what they are!)
