How's this look, me new site.

It's nice and clean.

My real issue is with the name, Top Gear Photo's. Do you shoot for the top gear show?

I can see this landing you in some bother if people think your making money off their name.

And using the same typeface as BBC's TG on your images.

Jeremy Clarkson may come and eat your first born.

Definitely got the clean and simple thing going on. Some of the pages feel a little empty though, perhaps slightly larger thumbs, or a bit of background design. Though you'd have to be careful not to busy it up too much.

Personally I'm not a fan of TNR as a font, it looks like you didn't bother to change from the default. Sans-serif fonts are generally easier to read on screen as well.

Jeremy Clarkson my come and eat your first born.

Hehhehehe thats a quality quote.

Seriously though - the OP should consider the implications of having such a title and similar branding...

I wouldnt have an issue with the name. 'Top Gear' has been used as a phrase before the show started to describe, well....the top gear (and also good quality drugs....i'm led to believe ! as in why is Amy winhouse like Jerremy clarkson ? They are both on top gear!)

As for the look, it is simple and classy but the only issue i would have is it looks like many other websites ive seen (i dont want to use the word cliched as it has too many bad conotations and you site is not bad at all). If i were looking for a photographer i would be looking for a bit more creative design input from the artist, someone who shows their creative flair when advertising themselves. This style may work for images of classy cars (i dont know, it's not my thing) but i would guess that if that is the case then your Audi image would need to be a real cracker (the grill looks too dark and the overexposure smothers the audi logo). Also the thubnails on the other pages dont really do it for me. They look plonked rather than presented, which would be fine, but your images are of classy vehicles and i presume your clientelle will be quite particular about style.

This is a novice guess, but i reckon that to have a succesful photo web site it needs to be either highly and originally creative or to display very high quality images, or preferably both.

If you look through the site there's at least one picture that appears to have The Stig in it...

The site works very well. Photography portfolios should be clean and simple (unlike mine!) I agree with the concerns above about the name. The only other comment I'd add is that you could definitely choose a better font for your title and body text. You've chosen a traditional serif font for a website that is about cars. A clean, sharp sans-serif font would be much more appropriate for the subject matter. (The shadow box effect is always nice!)

The only thing I don't like is the list of car makes in the gallery, just looks a bit messy to me, but overall I like it.

Whats the purpose of the site?
Who took the photos?

The site is lacking text and explaination. At the moment it is just a gallery of cars. Nice clean gallery - yes

The lack of explaination makes it even more defensless of its palgarisim of the top gear branding, which IMO has gone over the line

Thank you for the input guys, as you can imagine text will be added stating the service i can provide, while being careful not busy it up too much.

I do think there may be some harsh comments there, the service I provide is different to the one supplied by the show, different name, different font, etc.

There are loads of uses for the topgear title, i guess neverending, after a 30 second search:

http://www.topgear.co.uk/*
http://www.topgearsuperstore.com/*
http://www.durhamkarting.co.uk/
http://www.bowlstopgear.co.uk/*
http://www.topgeardrivingschool.com/

Yes that is the stig, or one of ... but I do not shoot for the show/mag.

But I guess its better than using a standard pbase template.

It is a very clean site, but a bit too clean for my taste. It would be good to have a bit of introductory/explanatory text to say who you are and what you do.

Not too worried about the name, but I guess adding context would help differentiate yourself from the TV show.

OK, agree with what's been said already, very nice clean and simple site.

Me too. Also agree re sans serif fonts, and I'd like some context on the site.

The gallery.htm page shifts over to the left a bit when you go to it, which is distracting.

At least 80% of photo websites have a black background...does it really look that good??

Same with the angled nature of car pictures, but that's me grumbling again!

Simple site, nothing wrong with the name, liking the angled images, my only gripw is how the image opens in IE to the left hand side, almost and if the website has been left.

Some harsh critique, not all justified IMHO ...... I think the issue with the gallery is that the list requires you to scroll down... i think it would be better to either lose the top line of images which do not serve any purpose or present the list in more columns or a different way? If this is a site still under construction then the lack of text is understandable but if not, brief text needs to be added. I think a disclaimer to distance yourself from the BBC would be prudent?

I like the way the gallery images pop-up and have a close button.

i like it! Nice and clean, i would have a disclaimer as suggested, though tbh i dont think it looks anything like the TV program..its just a name..
