How???

Hi,

I really like the processing and the atmosphere it creates in these shots by DJM-Photography but I'm at a loss as to how the effect is achieved and can't seem to get anywhere near it myself...

I understand that the shot/lighting etc has to be good in the first place, but there must be some kind of PP going into it also.

Any help or advice would be appreciated

Hi, Can't help you with the PP but, and I maybe wrong, unless you have permission to use these photos here you may be breaking copyright law.
I would suggest you contact the owner and ask if it is OK to use them and also he/she maybe tell you how it is done.

Check out some of the free actions on deviantart there should be some very similar.

One of the Film presets in Topaz adjust would probably get close, then play with the sliders until you get the right effect.

The nearest I got to anything like that is in elements, reducing of saturation and contrast, apply a sepia filter and a bit of colour adjustment. Maybe try applying a bit of blur aswel, though none was done in this shot...

Try this if you have photoshop.

1) open in Photoshop.
2) duplicate layer.
3) change blending mode to screen.
4) reduce opacity to give desired effect.
5) use the burn tool to bring back a bit of contrast to the subject.

See what that does
