How weather sealed am i?

Doing a big motorsport event in a few weeks time and i have media access and have hired the 300 2.8 VR to help get some really sharp close up images; just wondering how much rain a nikon D3 equipped with the above lens and also the 24-70 2.8G lens could stand;

If you recommend to get a cover then feel free to drop me some suggestions :)

No suggestions on the cover but it seems prudent to use one, not only for the rain but also dust and debris thats thrown up from the track by passing cars.
 
I'd be far enough away for dirt and dust to not be a problem but with the weather being how it has been i think yes it would be prudent to look into a cover - would be nice to find one I could attach to my monopod as opposed to the camera
 
Clear plastic bag plus elastic bands, may not be the most elegant but it will help keep the worst off. Try your local pet shop that sells fish, I bet they will give you a couple for nothing....

Yeh plastic bags i've tried before so may go with that again :) and how strange you should say that I work in a tropical fish shop on weekends haha :lol:
