Hello guys,
I hope this is the right place to post this topic :)

Most of us are new to photography and we learn new stuff everyday.
Today, I wish to know how to store my lens.

I have Nikkor 70-200 VR I.
It is in Nikon bag. It is not a leather one but from another material, I'm sorry I don't know the term for that kind of bags but it looks like below:

My rooms windows keeps leaking cold air so my room is kind of cold most of the time. other rooms are warm.

the question is how should i store this lens? do i put it in the wardrobe or just put it on the floor and seal the bag zipper as normal?

Will that protect it from mold?

Please advise :)

Many thanks
Haider

i alway pop a silica gel bag in with my lens/gear,half a dozen in my main case, pop em on a radiator to purge any damp, get em from 7dayshop,but the mould is a problem, you've got to get some air flow around you room, need to open them windows cold or not.i guess the worst thing is to Heat a damp room,

I have the same lens and as with all my lenses I keep them in my Lowepro bag unless I am using them, If i leave one behind for whatever reason I just leave on my desk.

Only time that I do anything different is if I have been out in the rain etc in which case I just place on a towel and leave in my study to dry off then pack away when dry

thanks guys for the tip...
I sometimes try to zoom-in-zoom-out the lens so i let air goes inside it to prevent mold.

most of the time the lens metal body is cold.

Hi new member here.

Is there anything that can be done to rescue the lens if it does get mold in it?

the only thing about silca gel pouches is you have no idea if theyre expired. you can get similar items from peli for example that do the same job but you can recharge by bunging it in the oven.

Can you buy silica gel pouches anywhere?

i have some of these, not peli but generic, they were only cheap but i keep a coupple in my bag at all times, if im not using a lens i keep both lens caps on (to keep the dust out) and just leave them on my desk as im too lazy to buy a 2nd bag or anything, so i just keep them lying about :)

My lenses if not on the camera are stored in one of two lowepro cases, everytime i get a packet with silica gel in it they just get trasnfered to my lowepro bags. there are quite a few in there now :p
