Hi
Imagine you are an accredited photographer for european swimming championships, but not tied to any agency / employer. You are there on a freelance basis, total freedom.
How would you go about selling, or at least increasing your chances of selling images?
Would you contact a sport news agency beforehand? Would you contact sports magazines beforehand? Or go wild and then seek clients based on shots you got?

I would appreciate your help.

I know this isn't an answer to your question but I'm astounded that a 'European level event' would issue accreditation without knowing a photographer's distribution and image use!

Although a european championship this is a relatively niche event, as is happens on a short pool (25m) only. Each event will consider freelance photographers (non-associated) if there are spare places. I guess I was lucky ;)

I think you've got to go to the event with a brief in hand because sports events have such a window when they're hot news that the delay afterwards whilst you tout your pictures, they're cooling rapidly.
