How to protect a freshly printed canvas?

I've recently started printing canvases on my Z3100 and I've noticed how the unprotected finish print can be prone to chipping if you're not careful.

Can anyone recommend any good ways or products to use protect them and/or link to any places I can read up about it?

let the dry for 24hours then use a UV spray. you can get various types gloss, matt etc. permajet, hahnemuhle make them

I get my bars from artbloc already but I can't find the sealant anywhere on their site, can you link me please unless I'm missing something obvious!

How do you apply the clear varnish? Is it a spray? And how time consuming is it?

If so, any recommendations on where to buy it?
 
I just emailed artbloc and they don't stock it snapalot.

I don't think it's nessesary to spray it once it's been varnished, but I might be wrong, I'm no expert.

The varnish I'm currently using is called Glamour II, it's by a company called Breathing Colour. But it's pretty expensive. Once the tub has run out I may end up going for a cheaper brand.

There was a company selling varnish at Focus this year, HP were recommending them (probably because they were given free use of the varnish for the day).
I'll try and dig out a leaflet if I still have it

At Focus they were selling the Satin Coat Kit (500ml + Roller) for £15. This was 30% off, so £21.something the price should be now.

That stuff looks good. Do you use the tinned stuff and then a roller to apply it? If so, how long does it take you to apply the coating do you think and is it tough to get a smooth layer? Also, just to confirm, do you apply the coating after the canvas has been mounted?

I'm looking at the sprays there too and it seems like they'd be much easier to work with, have you ever used them instead of the liquid?

Sorry about all the questions, quite new to this and trying to figure out how to do it properly.
 
have had no problem with sprays on any canvas I've made. the roller and paint is too much of a faff for my liking
 
Don't mess about with these over-priced art sprays, plain old polyurethane spray varnish from B&Q works perfectly.

Sorry for the late response...

I currently use the Glamour II, it comes in a white tub. and then I mix it in a glass jar part with warm water (about 30% water I think). It then goes into a tray and I use a roller to apply it to the canvas. You have to give it a real even coating and make sure there's no streaks anywhere.
Also try to pick out any visible bits of dust while the varnish is still wet.

You have to apply the coating before it's stretched. So I usually apply it about 20 minutes after printing the canvas.
Then give it 2 hours to dry. Make sure it's definately dry before you mount it though.
It's definately worth doing though.
