No
Well according to a video I had to watch this morning

Turn the engine off - yep we all do that when parking
Turn the wheels in to pavement when facing downhill or out when facing uphill - Nigh on impossible once the engine is off and power steering don't work
Put the vehicle in gear 1st of reverse depending on slope - ok but not something I do in my car
Apply the handbrake - shouldn't that be done as soon as you stop
No wonder vehicles are rolling away
Ok so I know most of us wouldn't do things in that order necessarily but there are some that will

IF you need to ask on here, Please just let someone else do it for you :D

Doing a drivers awareness course?
:D

Nope, it's a works road safety video, seems some don't apply handbrakes properly, so powers
that be see fit to make everyone watch a video, that in my view is the wrong sequence of actions, but of course others may disagree ;)

Completely wrong IMO, Its a bit like Manoeuvre, signal, and then Mirror ( to see what mayhem you just caused :D )

I can't take the key out if I leave 2 of ours in gear when stopped - and mine automatically shifts to P if I switch it off after leaving it in gear.

I always put it in 3rd when parked on a hill

Yeah I always leave mine in 3rd whenever it is parked....force of habit, think my dad taught me it when I started driving (then again he does have an amazing history of ropey cars, so was probably always betting on a handbrake failure!).

Even though 2 of my most recent Saabs have not had the gearbox locked even though the ignition/button is still between the seats, I still stick the car in reverse when parking and my foot on the clutch to start...

I think that must be a common Saab owner's thing, as I still do it in almost every car by habit even though I haven't had a Saab for a few years.

At least my muscle memory has reverted back the the point that I've stopped stabbing the ignition key into the handbrake. :D

That's how they seem to do it round my way FFS

Here too Matt, and most of the country from what I've seen on my travels

Can't believe people would treat auto as manual and risk box damage switching off engine in gear.

P = Park. Then handbrake thingy.

I don't. However, I do read the manuals which tell me what happens.

Women are allowed to drive nowadays?

I'm old enough to have been told to do as you said in the first post, Ingrid. Just in case.

I suppose I still do the safety things - turn the wheels slightly, in gear on a hill (in my wife's car, mine's automatic).
Not sure about what order I do them in, it becomes a habit you don't notice after 40 odd years of driving.
