Are there any "how to" threads/on line clips of how to merge video files into one file?
I've videoed a few files (4GB each) on my 1D IV and would like to merge them into one to send to a client.
Also, is it possible to just extract the audio, as that's all they really want?
Another thing is, I've just started uploading the first 4GB file to dropbox and it is estimating 9 hours to upload!!!!! there must be a better way of getting thiese to the client as i have 13 4GB files to send!!!

The audio alone will only be 200MB or so.
What software do you have?
It would be simple enough to import into (e.g.) adobe premiere, delete the video and export the audio as MP3
You can also easily stick the clips together.
What you're trying to do so far is unrealistic unless you put the whole lot on a (big) flash drive and post it.

My only comment would be 'why are you working for a client when you haven't got a clue about what you are doing?'

Learn to use either FCP or Premiere, and learn how to render video.

Hi 4wd
Thanks for replying, I don't have any video software, just PS elements and LR5, and don't really want to spend $39 or whatever the £ equivalent is on something I'll probably never use again!
I'm dubious to d/l the free programs i've seen online, so it's looking like your last idea might be best!

Hi Mark
The 'client' is someone my wife is working with, who originally wanted me to take pics of a workshop which is something I'm fine with, but she also wanted me to video them (only for the audio) so they could listen to it afterwards in case they missed something important.
I haven't/don't do work for people i don't know, I mostly just take pictures for pleasure

Adobe's CC free trial will get you out of trouble without even having to spend any money this time. Tutorials on YouTube will show you the basics.

I agree with Mark that you should have all this figured out beforehand though.

In Lightroom go to the export option. Choose Video . Leave the format as H.264 but opt for low quality. This will significantly reduce the file size, but leave the audio intact. As it's this you want then no problem. Most decent video editing programs will let you output only the audio but as you don't want to spend any money, then this is the best option. You will still have to export the clips as individual files, but unless you opt for spending some money this is the cheapest option I can think of.

Lightworks has a free edition and will easily do what you want.

They have free Youtube tutorials and free webinars.

If you just want audio, VLC will extract it and audacity join it and export it.
