Guys
Is it possible to manually change the aperture from f4 to f8 on the latest Nikon 600mm f4 lens when attached to a mirrorless camera body??

Thanks

Neil

Manually no, as it is a G lens - no aperture ring.

Have you thought about the 400 2.8 with a 1.4 TC?

Is there a reason why you do not want to set the Camera to f8 .................either in manual of Av mode?

It is a Nikon lens - why not try putting a Nikon body on it? I hear they are pretty good.

Just a thought?

But a Nikon body would be the right tool to put behind a Nikon lens. The other options would be a similarly specced native Leica lens or an older Nikkor with an aperture ring.

I agree 100%. But there’s no harm in trying new things :)

It might not be possible.

In theory you need a Nikon G to Leica L adaptor.

Something like this, albeit an american site http://mainlinephoto.com.au/novofle...-t-sl-camera-mount-availability-7-to-21-days/

The blue scalloped ring allows you to set the aperture.

However, assuming the 600mm is a Nikon "E" lens, it won't work, as none of the Nikon adaptors I have found come with with the electrical connections needed to control the Electronic diaphragms on the newer Nikon E lenses. I hasten to add I have not been looking for a Leica adaptor, but for my Fuji.

There is now a new Nikon to Sony adaptor that provides these connections, but I haven't found one for any other mount. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1265004-REG/vello_lae_se_nfv4_select_nikon_f_lens.html

Is it the FL with electronic aperture?
I know this works with Canon lenses w/ electronic apertures, not sure about Nikons. Put the lens on a Nikon body, set the aperture to f/8 and activate the DOF preview. Remove the lens wile the preview is activated and it will hold the aperture setting. I'm assuming there is no electronic communication between the Leica and lens to reset the aperture...
