Can anyone tell me how to make borders for a batch of photos in one go without having to open them one at a time?

I have LR2 with mogrify (which I would prefer to use). I also have CS4 but would rather not have to use it unless there was no other way in LR.

I note that there is a script by Cowasaki which might do it but it looks complicated and I want to avoid installing yet another bit of software on my comp if possible.

And I use OS X, so can't use Windoze only programs.

Too many demands, I know.......:shake:

Help please :help:

Assuming your images are already in LR2, what are you looking for do that Mogrify won't already do?

If not in LR2, could you temporarily import them into Lightroom?
You can leave the images in their original locations and tell LR2 to forget about them when you have done.

I like to have control over where I store my pics and the folder hierarchy. So what I usually do is import into LR, edit the pics and then save them to my specific folder (control freak! :cuckoo:) and then delete them from LR.

I could import them again into LR for the borders but I don't want to have to add borders one by one - would like to do them all together.

I hope that makes sense?

Yup - go to Grid view, select the ones you want to put borders around then thump the Export button.
Set up the way you want to export them inc border, then go and get a cup of tea while to you wait for LR2 and Mogify to chomp through them.
Save the export if you think you might want to use it again.

As an aside....
You can reorganise files within Lightroom, mine are organised into year then category across two disks.
As long as you use Lightroom to do the reorganisation you lose none of the clever Lightroom stuff.
Also, my disk only has the original raw file on it, this saves disk space. I only export for a purpose (email, forum, etc) unless it's going to Photoshop and even then I use Lightroom to create and manage the PSD file.
Finding images in Lightroom is a breeze - I don't understand why more people don't use it this way!

Thanks DD. :thankyou:

I like to have my own classification of folders and this is not just for my 'photography as a hobby' pics. It includes holiday photos and family snaps and things. I also plan to upload some of my pics to mobileme soon and I would like to know exactly where my piccies came from.

Exactly like I don't trust iTunes to consolidate my music for me. The thought of putting my stuff in the hands of software that could fail and that I would have to do things all over again prevents me from using them. At least this way,if the software crashes or if I decide to move to something bigger and better, I have everything backed up and ready to go.

You could also call it a resistance to change. But like I said, I am a bit of a control freak when it comes to these things. :gag:
