How to loose a sale!

One of my other vices is golf. *I'm pretty good at digging divots!

Anyway I decided to change my fairway woods recently and the pro at my club gave a go of what's called a hybrid club. * Sold on the idea I went to a large shop and range just outside Chester on Friday. *Conversation went a bit like this:

Shop: Good afternoon sir ( good start)

Me: Hello I would like to replace my fairway woods with hybrids. What do you have?

Shop: oh ok. Well we have this gadget that measures your swing parameters. You'll have to use that first at £25. But you get it back if you buy a set.

Me: Right where is it then (already feeling miffed but may be worth a look)

Shop: It's in use can you wait an hour?

Me: No! Can't I just see what you have and have a go on the range ( as i normally do and most places do)

Shop:Oh no sir! We can't help you till you have been on the machine. What you need to do is book in and we'll sort you out. Give us 3 days notice though!

Me: Oh ok, I'll be in touch then (with another shop)

Sale lost, I was gonna take some mates there for new sets....sales lost. I can't believe they didn't want me to test a product a then buy it.

Just imaging saying Id like a camera and the salesman says not till I test your hand size and finger length:bang:

Ahhhh,Golf.

There is nothing more satisfying that striking the ball cleanly off the tee with a resounding "thwack", looking up and seeing the ball fly majestically down the middle of the fairway. That one shot makes up for the other 129 shots spent hacking around in the rough and the brambles.....

I can already do that! It's the other 150 yds I struggle with

what wonderful sales tactics!

I got my set from American Golf, they were brilliant. Spent a fair while on the range deciding i have recovery clubs, and that i loved the irons etc. best thing about it was the guy was giving me advice on my swing as well.
