Can anyone explain how to correct an image that I have taken with a 24-105mm IS Lens full frame.

It is of a large group of people at a wedding. I am up on step-ladder and group are in a semi-circle. Nice shot. However, as I took it at the 24mm end of the lens, it has pulled the end people out width-ways, making them look fat (wide).

The way that I am trying to correct the image is by selecting the whole image and then Ctrl T, right click and select perspective. Gently nudge the top corners in so the edge people stand up straighter and appear thinner.

Is this the correct method? or is there a better way?

Appreciate your thoughts. Thanks

Hi Gilly - I don't know what program you use but in Paint Shop Pro there is a barrel correction adjustment. Click on Adjust then Barrel Correction and move the slider until the desired correction has been achieved. Don't know if that helped??

Two methods Gilly

1. Get PT lens from epaper express. Its exceptionally good and can be a stand-alone or PS plug-in. Very cheap and awesome value.
2. In PS, select Fiter, Distort, Lens Correction and adjust to suit.

PT lens is autpmated based on algorithms based on lens profies.

Thanks Guys. Lady pitstop - PS CS2.

Jonny R - never heard of the first, but will look it up. I just knew there was a tool in CS2! Thanks for reminding me where it was. It has worked fine. God I am sooooo thick sometimes:cuckoo:

.......just realised I probably set myself up for some ribbing from JR:bonk:

Hi Gilly

there is a plugin for any of the photoshop family called Proxel lens corrector that is great.you input the focal length etc and the plugin automatically corrects the image for you in a click of a button. You can also use it to batch process a number of images if say,you took a series of continuous shots that all exhibit the same distortion.I`ve used it many times and if you want to PM me I will tell you were you can get it from.

Best regards

Kenny
