Yes
I’m getting really pi55ed with Facebook. It seems that since updating my IOS & FB app. I’m now swamped with content that I have no interest in, from recipes to Spurs (and I’m an Arsenal fan…)

The problem isn’t such an issue on my desktop as I run “Fluff Buster”, which allows me a lot more control, but I’m at a point where I’m considering removing the app from my phone.

Any advice?

Since FB took away a of it's content auto-moderation, I suspect this is a side effect. They are trying to stay aligned to Musk's X paradigm of "free speech" but advertising presumably is a part of that to them, I've noticed it too, and wax having the same thoughts about the app on my phone. I truth a hardly use it so it wouldn't be much of a loss.

This started a few weeks ago, and blocking profiles does not work.

The blockers that worked before don't now, hopefully they will catch up soon.

It is their way of getting more views on ads.

I don't use it on my phone.

Unfortunately, Facebook is the best method of communication with the wider family, so getting rid of it all together is not an option, but it may well get ditched on the phone.

Yes, that is why we use it, family in different parts of the world.
There used to be messenger lite, though it wasn't "available" here, you could download the apk and that was great.
Before that we had YM and skype before M$ turned it into $kype

We have been slowly going over to WeChat, but a real pain to sign up.

W also have been moving to WhatsApp for family and friends groups, and for work groups too, for messaging.
I only use FB now for info in a number of groups I follow, but a lot of that is dross too. The most useful ones are the local FB groups for local villages, for info about what's going on and recommendations for tradesmen. So, in truth, I can do all that on the desktop so I think it will get deleted on the phone very soon.

We use whatsapp groups for family comms
it works well if people the other end use it, but its popularity varies, and not all do, but I wouldn't use it on a phone that had banking apps or confidential work data.

Can i ask why ? I know WA is end to end encrypted by what is the issue with other apps on the same hardware ?

What is this Facebook you speak of?
One of these new fangled things the kids waste far too much time on, another example of something that's wanted but not needed;)

No, I think we've yet to see that effect but the problem the OP is describing has been a problem for a while. I guess it's their way to drive engagement, they flood the main feed with groups and posts they think you'll like instead of the content you actually want to see. I've counted 35 posts in a row that are not posts I have chosen to follow.

The only way around it I've found is to manually choose feeds and leave it at all, this will only show the content you follow but you can't set this as default and have to choose it each time.

it seems a bit of a nightmare at the moment i agree i have stopped using "feeds" as i just jump to my groups but then again i don't do much other content now than groups, since retiring i binned of so many so called FB friends lol

every 2 to 3 months i delete the app (ios) and reinstall this seems to stop adds and other crap.

If you leave Zuckbook, is there a way to delete your data, or does it just sit there, devoid of any controls on re-use?

Yes you can request the account to be deleted if you want it permanently removed or you can request for it to be deactivated where it would remain unusable but you can request it to be reactivated.
