Can anyone recommend a good simple program for resizing jpegs? I dont have photoshop and use the Gimp - found a plugin for gimp but don't like it as it dosen't seem to keep the pixel ratio. (its called david's batch processor)

And what max pixel length would you recommend for the web? (simply to stop people making enlarged eg. 10x8 prints?)

There's a free program called Photoscape which has a batch editor and can do a batch resize - and a lot of other things.

If you put pics onto your own website you can overlay them with a blank pic which stops (I believe) people downloading them.

Of course it doesn't stop them being copied with a screen copier.

You could also put Jpegs up which have been reduced not in size but in quality.

Any attempts then to resize them up will simply result in very poor pics.

Thanks peter i'll be sure to check it out. Ideally i would love a program that does:

CA removal
Barrel distortion
batch resize

moon on stick?

For a simple resizer try Pixresizer.
It's freeware and works very quickly and simply.

Have a look at faststone as well. I think it does batch resizing, haven't actually tried but the option certainly seems to be there.

Irfanview...............

And its a freebie.......:D

Microsoft do a Resize Images add in - It's one of their free Powertoys.

Once you install it, all you need to do is to select a batch of images in a folder, Right click and pick Resize Images.

It gives 4 standard sizes to fit screens of 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768 & 240x320.

There's also a custom setting wher you can choose your own max dimensions.

It's big advantage is that it's integrated with windows, so you don't have to fire up a separate app.

That said, I use Photoshop's Image Processor from Bridge.

Faststone image resizer - and it's free. Has the option to intelligently resize by recognising the long side of an image.

Simplest and easiest I have seen is Eazy thumbnails, it will do any size not only thumbnails.
