I was listing all my gear for my insurance this morning and OH MY!! it soon added up. I have not included any of the MF stuff either!
As the grand total racked up it did make me think though. It's not proportional this photography lark. The results you get are not linear with the amount you spend! b****r! I knew I had gone wrong somewhere.:bang:
I'm not saying that I have not learned anything or had a blast with the equipment that I have bought over the years, far from it. In fact when I look at the sheer grin factor, it's been worth every penny. Some of the pics of our little 'un are irreplaceable.
But it did make me stop and think. You can invest £1000 in equipment and turn out the most spectacular pics, you can spend £5000 and there is no way that those pics are 5x as good as the £1000 ones. I do know that there are some shots that you just can't nail with cheaper equipment or you would see a host of point and shoots at Old Trafford every week, but just how many do we actually get that fall into that category. (I'm going to exclude the motorsport and aviation buffs from this one!)
