Yes
I am currently looking at buying a second one of these off ebay, but I cant hel but feel most are charging a too steep a price - Id like to se myself being able to get one of these under 100 pounds, but some are charging nearly 200 pounds! - bit steep I reckon

Your thoughts?

Decent condition, well described with decent pictures but no CLA history - probably about £100-125, on the higher end. I'd prefer to bag a more used one for £80-90 and get a CLA and have pretty much the perfect 35mm camera for anything you can imagine for under £150...

I bought an all black one off eBay for £150 back in 2009. Looking at the completed sales price of recent auctions they seem to still be selling for similar amounts. I think you'll need to be patient and persistent to get a good one for under £100.

If it helps by Dad picked up one in excellent condition for £140 a few months ago.

I paid £165 for mine but that was mint boxed and a mint boxed 35mm f2.8 pc lens. To me it was worth it.

I paid £250 for a brand new one in 1994 ,still got it, still use it,still love it. That was a lot of cash, nice t see how the prices have held, who says film is dead?

I got an FE2 for free a few months ago. I would happily pay the same or even twice as much for an FM2n!

I think £200 is too much and agree that £100 is about right.

Yep thats the one I have, I bought mine from West Yorkshire Cameras and paid £169 with a 50mm pancake and a bag of goodies, very good deal.

Did you have to show me that website!
Sorry. It is really rather good and the bloke that runs it is very nice and helpful. Prices are reasonable and his descriptions are accurate.

I am a buy the best one you can find person.
generally its been well looked after and if it does need CLA etc then so be it.

These cameras are getting old and need attention

i paid £400 for my fm2n

new in 1999 ,,,,cant believe ive had it 14 years.and i still love using it

I've had an FM2n from new. I don't use it just now but would never sell it, since if I ever go back to 35mm film, it would be my camera of choice (ok, if I was left a Leica by a relative I might think about flogging it). In fact, while I type this I am wondering why I am messing about with MF while I have an FM2n doing nothing. That is why they are expensive - those of us who have them don't want to sell them, those of who don't, want to buy them. They are lovely cameras to use.

With the FM2n,treat them like a classic car ,don't use them every day but take them out once in a while for the pure enjoyment.

Ultimately, the value of the fm2n is defined by what ever people are prepared to pay for them? I would tend to agree, £200 is a bit steep for an average condition one. £200 for a mint boxed one however I'd say is not entirely unreasonable. As said above really, it's about waiting for the right one and the right price, which may involve waiting a long time! I bought my fm3a for £350 iirc which, compared to the eBay price, was blinding at the time.

exactly buy the best one now
soon there will be only oldies
