The National section of the rally saw two of the seven local crews to take to the stages, first of the locals was James MacGillivary and Ian Fraser in the Ralloy prepared Ford Escort Mk2, They finished the rally 14th over all and 2nd in class four.
The second local crew was Paul MacKinnon (Son of 11 times Tour of Mull winner Neil MacKinnon) and Ewen MacGillivary in the John Pye hired Subaru Impreza, they finished a fantastic 8th over all and 1st in Group N.
The Reivers section of the rally which is a round of the Scottish Rally championship saw the remaining four crews take on the tough borders lanes. The first stage was cancelled before any of the local crews entered the stage, as Owen Murphy car 48 had gone off injuring a media person.
First local crew away was William (Flit) Bonniwell and Ian Fraser in the Vauxhall Astra, unfortunately they would not finish the rally, retiring at the end of SS5 with mechanical failure.
Gerry Kilmurray and Ian MacIvor in their Subaru Impreza didn't fair any better retiring at the end of SS2 also with mechanical failure.
Stewart Morrison and Stephen Lockhart in their Toyota Starlet was looking for a good result on this rally after a bad start to this year retiring from the rally at Crail raceway in March but this rally wasn't much better, going out on SS2.
The Bear cubs made their third appearance on the stages this year. The team has shown good pace on the two rallies they have entered this year so far this year, the crew were
really looking forward to this rally but was a bit nervous after completing the recce. John MacCrone once again was the pilot in the wee Vauxhall Corsa but he was joined in the passengers seat by a new co-driver, Alec Brown. The wee corsa unfortunately let the team down and they retired 5 miles into SS2 with mechanical failure.
