I know that there is the TP IRC channel, what goes on there, am I missing good things so is it worth learning how to IRC?

The reason I ask is I was reading the "Fancy a shoot with a couple of models" and reading between the lines I get the impression that the 1-3 crowd arranged this outside of the TP forum - was this thorugh IRC?

Well it was myself that arranged it, and I was planning on posting on the forum, with the idea of getting some of us together, but what with chatting to the model via MSN, I already knew the others would have liked to have done something like this so offered it to them first :)
Not really because of IRC (two of them I dont think have ever been on IRC :p)

There is a lot discussed on IRC and by that I mean theres plenty of pointless drivel said. Pretty much every hour of the waking day, and sometimes the night crowd are up all hours. I wouldn't say you're missing opportunities though. Its like being in a pub. Random Marik bashing, Nikon bashing, and so on :D

:threaddriftwarning:

what's an IRC when it's at home?

IRC is a lot more social than the forum, although we do occasionally talk about cameras :p

Its as Pete said more like pub chat than anything else :D

opens the door...
"it's full of stars"

Still slightly OT , can anyone reccomend a IRC prog for Vista ?

(would be useful if it had a built in 'insult marik' option ;)

Useless tripe spouted on quakenet : lots
Actual content / coherent discussion : negligible

I ****ing hate IRC. Give it a go if you think you're missing out on something. Chances are you're not, though.

How can you say that? :p. I've learned so much .

But seriously, It's a nice place to idle, because there's usually someone to have a moan at/natter with, and a lot of the people in IRC have a decent knowledge of photography/gear etc, so it's not just a 24/7 discussion of norks and lifestyle products :geek:.

I actually find the TP photography channel as well as the usual IRC random conversations we do actually have some good photography based discusions at times. Off course they are always spontanious so you really have to be there 24/7 to catch them.

Its just having a laugh with friends mostly. That I do miss.

I lost a game of IRC roulette on there the other day. Its actually quite a lively IRC channel - tis good.

The IRC talk Is mainly gear they like to buy on Ebay or currently mens Yfronts!

You really need to stop talking about mens yfronts dude. :cuckoo:

Who says I am?:p Someone posted that filthy Y-fronts link in the IRC.

You contradict yourself though when we all know you talk about certain mens packages alot yourself or at least use the word alot.:p

My name changes often anyways.

I am a good soldier In there.

So what does a person need to do to get a link waved in their face for the IRC? I presume meat and two veg are not a requirement for all? :D
