I dont budget for them, i buy them when the price is right and keep them in the freezer. This will vary massively from person to person as all films are different prices and we all shoot at different rates
35mm roll of Velvia is about £9-10 now
Whereas a 35mm roll of APX-100 is less than £3
So budgeting £30 a month would get you 3 rolls of 1 film or 10 of the other
I also buy when they are better value and store them till I need to shoot them. It entirely depends on the emulsion - a fast B&W 35mm emulsion can end up costing far more, but it's all a matter of value for each individual one. For instance, ~£3 for a roll of 120, Kodak T-Max 400, is about right for me.
Like many others, my shooting rate varies considerably so I tend to ensure I have plenty of film stored ( usually frozen).
Again like most folk, I keep my eyes open for decent purchases, usually buying in bulk to try save a little....all depends what comes available at any given time but don't forget that p&p (if you buy online) can play a big part in wether a bargain really is a bargain or not!
I don't - I just bought a whole bunch a while ago, when I had some money - now I've a freezer compartment full of film, and no time/inclination to shoot anything.
As with above really... I spend what I can on stock when I can afford it. Going to be bulk buying some more B&W when Adox are settled, as well as some acros 100 if I can splash the cash!
I'll pick up some xp-2 at Boots every couple of weeks and always get at least five of the Poundland Agfas whenever I go in just in case they stop being able to get it all of a sudden! Sitting on quite a stock at the moment as the only local traditional developers left was seeling short dated Fuji 800 and 1600 colour films for a pound a go a few weeks ago!
Usually just buy a couple of the Kodak or Agfa 35mm films at the Poundshop whenever I'm nearby, and buy ilford HP5+ in lots of 3 if I'm running low! I go through probably about 3 rolls a month at this rate, so maybe a tenner a month?
