How much can one retrieve from old photos?

Ok this is the only photo I have of my late parents but that is not the reason for posting.
I came across this old photo (shown on the right) taken by an old camera do't know what one, but the way the photo was printed with the curved edges was the old way.

With just my elements editing suit I managed to pull out quite a few colours which didn't appear in the original. These a pretty close to what I remember my parents often wore.

Has any member manage to do a similar retrieval from an old print is my question

Looks like you have done a reasonable job there, it still looks a little blue to me but you can see how much you have pulled from it. A lot of that will be the white balance I'd have thought, it's crazy what you can get out of them with the right settings. I have done a few old picture recoveries for my dad when he got into researching the family tree a few years ago. Mostly I was fixing cracks in b&w pictures though.

There are some incredible examples of colourised old photos online which show what is possible but the hours they must take is phenomenal.
