How important your bios battery is

Thought I would share this with, as I did not realise the bios clock was so important. As you might know from some of my previous posts I have been having all sorts of problems with my laptop.

The bios battery as it turns out was flat and my bios clock was running at hundred miles a hour,about 60x faster than it should of been.

On the 26th December I download adobe elements for a 30 day trial and you know what I am going to say,yesterday the trial period ended. Spoke to adobe online and they say there is nothing they can do as the trial period was set by default and it was down to my system clock running fast.

Surely this cant be right, I have rectified my bios problem today and replaced the battery, but what I would like to know,if my bios clock was running extremely slow would this mean I would get extended trial period.

Just thought I would share this incase any one had any views on this or had had it happen to them.

you'll be surprised just how needed the BIOS is, even on todays modern machines. I do a lot of overclocking and my PC spends more time in bits than together...hence BIOS resets. The last time I forgot to set the clock, windows update wouldnt update, anti-virus progs were complaining, you name it.

The good news is the trusty BIOS as we know it has finally had its day, along with the 1.44mb floppy disk, due to be replaced with the UEFI

You could always try uninstalling Elements and re-installing/re-downloading it ?

I honestly don't think uninstalling Elements and re-installing/re-downloading it will work, but to be honest the little time I did have to play around with it I will be purchasing it.

I just did not realize the bios played such a big part, and that little battery should be more accessible. I have a dell 1545 and I printed of the manual for changing the battery before I started, but I had to completly strip the thing apart.

Mind you I have learnt a whole load in the last few days and found it all very interesting.

If you want to keep trying elements for a while longer just reset your clock back a few days/weeks/years and it'll keep running. Just remember to set it back to the right date when you're done.
