Just added a new Blog post, folks.

It details how you go from the photo on the left, to the one on the right. Click here to view the post.

:)

Let me know what you think.

Interesting post, and very good of you to share with us, one small "niggle" for me was while you give good details of the LR edit you don't mention the action steps or the PS steps in as much detail.
Why not post links to the preset and action and share those as well? Just a thought.
Thanks for posting though.

Had a similar question elsewhere so I thought I'd copy+paste the reply :)

I take your points. :) It's actually pretty hard to write those sorts of posts. I could have gone into waaay more detail, but I figured that if you're a complete newbie to Lightroom then there's much better websites out there for showing you how to edit a photo and, as you say, why certain things should be done. If you're experienced then it's a peek into someone else work-flow - which I always find interesting. And that's why I wanted to do it. I find those sorts of posts interesting.

I think I took the middle road. Showing what had gone into it as a peek into how I edit, rather than a step by step guide to how and why I did certain things. I could have provided the RAW file and all the actions, but to be quite honest, I like sharing stuff and being open but the action's the result of 6 years of using Photoshop - it's my final step to 'finish' a photo off. It's better to create those sorts of things yourself rather than being given it on a plate for a couple of reasons, including the fact that it's okay applying the action, but what about understanding what it's doing too? The effect of the action also isn't too clear on web-sized photos. I'll post a downloadable file next time, so you can see!
