Yes
I tried to post half a dozen shots on here yesterday - the first time I resized them using the 'pixel count' the file size was still to big to post. After the second attempt I was able to post them, but they looked flippin horrible.

Im not the worlds greatest photographer, but i still hate to see my shots ruined by nasty compression.

I know there are a million and one different ways to re-size photos - what does any one use ?? Ideally something that lets you process a batch of images at once ??

Thanks :D

I use picasa to host any of mine and the url conveniently includes a width that I simply alter to 640 (which seems to work well). No fancy technical stuff, just edit the url before posting.

I don't why Picasa seems to do that, other hosting sites don't seem to.

The good thing about it is I don't need to alter the file.

Microsoft provide a simple little free program called Image Resizer Powertoy.
It has 4 preset sizes:-
640x480
800x600
1024x768
240x320
plus custom resize.

It adds a "Resize" command to right click so you simply right click on your pic and there you go.
It can resize the original or make a copy at the desired size.

I use an export preset within Aperture
