How do you blow yours?

Like probably most on here I rocket blow my sensor until I have no choice and use my cleaning kit.

Thing is it's a tricky thing to do.

I tend to have the camera upside down so that theoretically the blown dust should fall out (prolly doens't though) then I very carefully position the nozzl e in the hole and pump as hard as I can (oh god I am asking for it with that sentence :lol:) but I am very concious of there is a lot of movement going on and trying the keep the end of the nozzle hitting the sensor.

All this while it's upside down is awkward and unweildy and I wonder if you pips had a better more effecient method that works well.
 
Here's what I do:

Fill the bathroom with steam (steam attaches to the dust in the room, makes it heavy and it falls to the floor).

Affix the Camera body to a tripod with it facing downwards. That way you don't have to worry about holding it.

Remove lens/cap and do your blowing thing.

Replace lens/cap.

It's as easy as that!

makes sense, but what about steam getting into the camera??
 
Janice aside it's so quick and easy to clean your sensor properly (eclipse fluid and sensor swabs) why would you want to blow dust about inside it?

because after you've spent ages cleaning (etching) the sensor all the dust that's left in the body jumps onto it :)
 
Im not even going to enter this thread except to say I do like Simon's idea of lining the nozzle up with the hole and pumping as hard as he can.........that sounds like the best idea in my opinion!! :naughty: :D :lol: :thumbs:

Agreed. Quick swab and away I go.
 
Blow any loose dust out first using Sie's patented 'holding upside down' technique [soon to be upgraded to panzerbjorns tripod technique], then lift mirror, another quick blow and do a sensor swab wipe.

Mind you, dont do it often enough, the blowing bit, as most of my lens changes happen outside :bonk:
 
I always blow, have never tried a wet one yet.

Hold it upside down and blow, go to sensor cleaning mode, upside down again and more blowing, then back together with the lens.

You can also do it in public.

This is all getting a bit too much for my sensitive nature..........I think Im going to have to sit in the corner of a darkened room for a while to recover!! :naughty: :D

I have to admit - I was planning this approach. of course, AFTER the steam has dissipated though...makes it possibly the cleanest room in the house... and using pecpads/eclipse to make a good go of it. I set mine up on a tripod to keep it steady then get to work.
 
I just wish there was someone to blow mine for me as a vigorous pumping makes your arm hurt.

i use the bathroom technique (after you have filled the room with steam, leave it for a couple of minutes before takign the camera in there)

i had some dirt,on the sensor, and 4 attempts at sticking my rocket in there (fnar fnar) made no difference, one blast using the bathroom technique worked a treat (shame I had just bought an eclipse cleaning set )
