how do you be inconspicuous?

Hello,

So my work had its big 15 year AGM today so out comes my camera and off I went...I learnt two things from this a) I need a bigger lens and b) I need a flash gun!

But my question is I could see where all the best shots could be taken from but I could not get there as there were lots of people seated and I would discturb the event... I also felt if I moved around to much I would cause a disturbance

So whats the advise for this; do you get a seat at the front and miss all the great shots I got from the middle or is it a compromise?

On the bright side cos I had a "fancy" (ie DSLR) camera there were people who thought I was from the newpaper :D
 
Just go to wherever you need to be to get the shots you want to take, don't try to be inconspicuous, that will get you nowhere.
Here are the golden rules of photography:
Never ask, someone may say NO
Do it until you're stopped.
 
boldness pays...you are in charge of the photography..
the camera isnt as big as your body...just blend and flow...the camera adds to your status and is your passport to moving around per se...wear black
 
Being 6ft 5ins and of big build inconspicous has never been a option, so I agree with the other posts. Be bold, take the lead works most of the time & your'll get that shot
 
do what you need to do to get the shot you want
 
Gotta agree with the above.
Be bold and self-confident. Don't shuffle round. Stride with purpose and make other people think you know what you're doing, even if you don't. (I'm good at that part).

So from the all the advice I'm getting, cos I have the camera I should just do as I like :D
