Can anyone advise me how to go about this and how much it costs. Also some links to insures would be nice.

Thanks Matt:thumbs:

I use these :) www.liabilityguard.co.uk
Its all part of photoguard so i get my equipment insurance and liability cover all together. never had to make a claim but process is easy and a lot of companies i looked at only offered standard 1m cover when I needed 2m

It is for Oulton Park photographers pass. Will 1 mill be good enough? Oh and Is £8.70 good price? Thanks for the comments.

Try Glover and Howe. I use them to insure my photography gear, and from googling their name I have no doubt they'll pay out, unlike certain other insurance companies who'll umm and ahh for as long as possible.

That's good advice. Certain well-known online insurance Companies have a reputation for being much keener to take your money than give you theirs...

To get back to the original post, public liability insurance is an add on to an existing policy, AFAIK it isn't available as a separate policy

caunce o'hara used to do a decent policy - covered me for working in factories, computer rooms, etc etc. liability to £5m on my policy. tied in with computer equipment an professional indemnity policy

If its for you Matt, just check and double check there min age, as i know from experaince of being a self employeed sparky not all insurances will cover under 18, 20, 25.

I was thinking that myself, I would say 18 may be the minimum age, that may also be the case with MSV Circuits although I don't know.

I have my PL on my kit insurance with www.aaduki.co.uk

Good luck Matt, I think this may just put a spanner in the works though :(

and now its time for a n00b question :D .... why do you need Public Liability Insurance ? what is it for? how does it work. thx

hmmm in that case i dont think I need it ;)

I'd check details with Oulton Park, I'm pretty sure all the press forms for Rockingham said you had to be 18, but Oulton Park may not be the same. It is also worth checking the level of insurance they require, one place I shoot a lot just say that you need it and £1m seems to be fine, I think they just have that policy to stop anyone coming along with a camera...

Grrrr I have to be over 18! Thats really annoying/disappionting. I think MSV are unfair and ageist if there is such a word. Grrr!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry mate, atleast you havent waste'd any money.
