Yes
I'm playing around with a shot and I'd like to cut selection and repeat it 3 times so that I finish up with a star type shape. I want to cut out the central poirtion of the image, with a 90 degree angle at the top and two equal sides running towards the two bottom corners. Then it I duplicate and reposition I will have four identical triangles making one complete image. Only problem is that I can't seem to work out how to use CS6 to draw an exact triangle. The 90 degree will be roughly in the centre of the shot.
I've tried duplicating layers and masking out unwanted areas, but I can't get the angles exact and gaps keep appearing against the canvas background.

Anyone know how to draw an exact triangle with equal angles and equal sides. An equilateral triangle I think they are called - if I can remember my O level maths correctly.

Well, it's not that easy to explain! I'll try.
Trying to remember my schoolboy geometry was hard. But I wanted a triangle with two equal sides with a 90 degree angle inbetween.
So I placed a vertical guide line where I wanted the 90 degree corner to be. Then I placed a horizontal guide at the top of the point where the corner would be.Then I dragged another horizontal guide down this until I reached the place where I wanted to cut. I noted the distance that I had travelled. Then I went back to the first vertical guide and placed two more guides either side of this, excatly the same distance apart as the two horizontal guides.
I then had five guides in total - two horizontal and three vertical. This gave me two equal size boxes. So I simply used the polygonal lasso tool and drew a line along the base then up towards the upper horizontal line to where it bisected the middle of the three vertical lines. Basic geometry gave me a 90 degree angle, two 45 degree angles and two equal sides. Then it was just a matter of copying this selected area three times and repositioning the layers.

This is the finished image. Unfortunately I don't think it's very good, but the principle is a good one to know.

if you look at your image the bullet tips are not symmetrical !!!!!

I know they're not. I didn't like how it was turning out so didn't get too fuss pot over it.

And yes I know you were joking......I think.
