Not sure if this is the right forum but I think it is.

As I'm finding out, I need to pay more attention to my backgrounds when photographing. My wife loves this picture of my daughter and wants a print of it, trouble is I've now noticed on the top right of the mantle piece and the candles have a box of some description in front of them, now I've seen them I know it would bug me. Now I'm not sure if I could get rid of them all or try to duplicate the two on the left. I'm guessing getting rid of them all would be easiest? I have LR3, not sure if I could do it with that or maybe some freeware like Gimp? I could possibly get access to Photoshop if that would be better? Trouble is I'd have no idea where to start:shake:

Any help would be much appreciated :)

Thank you.

Hi Gary,

There are people on here with far superior post-processing skills than me, but I did this edit in about 5 minutes on Photoshop CS4 using clone tool and a little dodging and burning to blend in the cloned parts. I have no experience of LR, but I presume you can clone with it and I know you'll be able to dodge/burn. GIMP will definitely have clone tool. It's not a perfect edit, infact it's a little untidy in a couple of places, but I just wanted to show what can be achieved relatively quickly using basic functions. I hope this helps?

Let me know if you'd prefer me to remove the image...

Hi Matt, that great, thanks.

I'll have a look at downloading Gimp and having a play with the clone tool, or look on LR3, can't say I've seen it on LR but I haven't been looking :)

Well it looks less cluttered in Matts`s edit  Here is a quick copy and paste job.

Glad you like it! A quick Google search reveals that Lightroom 3 has a clone tool :) There are loads of tutorials out there!

Yeah, thanks Matt, now I know that I'm looking for "clone tool" tut it might be easier. Didn't have a clue what I was looking for before :)

Thanks for your effort as well Rich, but I think I prefer it with the candles completly gone.

Glad to have been a help. Please post the results once you've had a go :)
